Intelligent Airtight vapour control membrane (AVCM) with fibre reinforced polymer emulsion. Brush applied Vapour Control
Application
- Floor/ wall connections.
- Wall/ ceiling connections.
- Window/ wall connections.
- Pipe penetrations.
- Walls.
- Wall/ wall connections.
- Vertical and horizontal joints.
- Curtain walls.
- Wall/ roof connections (steel deck).
- Envelope Penetrations –Service penetrations can be the downfall of any air tightness testing. The Passive Purple home pack is applied around objects that penetrate any surface to the external envelope, sealing where most tapes and membranes fail. Before you apply Passive Purple, first apply polyurethane foam around any penetrations. After hardening, remove the excess foam and apply a generous amount of Passive Purple with a flat paintbrush. In all cases, apply a sufficient, well-covering layer to guarantee airtightness.
- Window/Door Reveals– Passive Purple can be applied (and is tested) on different construction materials such as concrete, brick, wood, PVC, aluminium and polyurethane foam. With a coat of Passive Purple, the whole window/door reveal can be made airtight.
- Awkward Joist Zones– Areas like joist zones play a major roll in air leakage as over time and with building settlement, cracks and substrate changes/shrinkage occur resulting in hidden air leaks. Passive Purple Brush has 45% elongation/elasticity which bonds too and stretch’s/moves with the substrate without decreasing in performance, resulting in a firm and still completely airtight high performing detail.
- Window Formers– Passive Purple Brush is easily applied with a paintbrush to get at any hard to reach, awkward spots where traditional tapes and membranes fail. Unlike many traditional methods of sealing these areas, Passive Purple Brush can adhere to multiple substrate changes like blockwork, plastic and metalwork and does not shrink, deteriorate or come unstuck over time, Also.. its liquid putty state makes it easy to brush into and around all gaps and cracks effortlessly
Description
A full BBA-certified polymer-based paste which is applied with a paintbrush and dries to an airtight vapour control membrane (AVCM) with good adhesion on different substrates.
BBA Certified, brush-applied Vapour Control Membrane for Connections and Service Penetrations. Use on multiple surfaces.
For small projects, such as private houses, the Passive Purple Home Pack can be used with a flat paintbrush. In this case, an airless spray device is not needed.
The wall/ceiling connections also need to be made airtight, especially when the connections are made of two different types of construction materials such as red brick/concrete or steel/concrete.
Different construction materials react differently to changes in humidity and temperature, moving at different rates, which can lead to small cracks in plaster or another type of finishing. That movement can create air leaks that cause your building’s energy performance to suffer and potentially open the gateway for damp and mould to appear.
Why Choose Passive Purple Home Pack?
- Window And Door Reveals– Windows and door reveals are a common culprit for allowing significant air leakage. With its fibre reinforced make-up, Passive Purple Brush will completely seal and dry into a tough airtight membrane that will not peel or become unstuck like your classic silicones and tapes
- Connections And Joints– Bridge the larger gaps in the wall connections and joints for a tough yet flexible seal which allows itself to work with building settlement before spraying over with Passive Purple Spray
- Wall and Ceiling– Completely seal the wall to ceiling connections with a perimeter application of Passive Purple Brush or Spray
- Slab Connections– Completely seal the slabs to panels and walls with a perimeter application of Passive Purple Brush or Spray
- Service Penetrations– Service penetrations can be the downfall of any building. Passive Purple and Passive Purple Brush are applied around objects that penetrate any surface of the external envelope sealing where most tapes and membranes fail and are too awkward to apply
- Cost Effective– Don’t risk tapes and membranes peeling away or becoming unstuck, leaving your house open for air leakage, costing you labour, energy and stress. Unlike traditional tapes, Passive Purple Home Pack can be applied with great speed and on damp surfaces
Generally, before the application of Passive Purple, we seal all gaps and joints like so and pay close attention to the joist zones, window reveals and panel to DPC/top plate connections.
This prepares us for spraying a smooth quick coat knowing nothing has been missed and guarantees a perfect airtight score. Also whilst doing this, it helps locate and amend any issues with the structure that may be unknown to the client or contractors.
Our onsite philosophy is.. If every contractor works to and airtight standard detail, this level of precision and careful quality of work flows through the job and makes the final structure perfect with minimal issues ‘if any’ in all areas and trades.
